Guest artist Daniel Hsu will perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The second Piano Concerto is one of the greatest, most recognizable works of all time and Daniel’s passionate performance will bring the house down!
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Daniel began studying piano at age 6 and made his concerto debut with the Fremont Symphony Orchestra at age 8, before being accepted into the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of 10. Since then, he has made his debuts with the Philadelphia Orchestra and at Carnegie Hall. Hsu is the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Bronze Medalist
Other works performed during the concert include Gabriela Lena Frank’s “Concertino Cusqueño,” with folkloric melodies and dance rhythms inspired by the composer’s own Peruvian heritage. To conclude the evening, the Orchestra will perform Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 which evokes the rugged landscape of Finland with its sweeping melodies and powerful rhythms.
