The third Music Director Finalist Michelle Merrill conducts the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Victory Theatre at 7 PM. This season brings five conductors, narrowed down from over 200 applicants, to audition for the next EPO Music Director.
Michelle Merrill has been inspiring audiences throughout the country with her sharply detailed and vibrant performances. A passionate and dynamic artist, she served four years as the Associate Conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Currently, in addition to her growing guest conducting schedule, Ms. Merrill also serves as Music Director of the Coastal Symphony of Georgia.
Guest Artist and Taiwanese-American violinist Richard Lin is the 2018 Gold Medalist of the Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. Lin will perform one of the most well-known and most cherished of all classical music; Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
Richard began his violin studies at the age of four. He gave his public debut at age eleven. Richard graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School.
The evening’s program also includes Mozart’s Overture to “The Magic Flute,” Aaron Copeland’s quintessential and immensely popular “Appalachian Spring,” and Hungarian György Ligeti’s “Concert Românesc.”
